Compare energy usage
Compare energy usage data - choosing the right strategy
Before switching provider you should better check your
energy usage first.
If the country you live in has liberalized the energy market then you can decide yourself which energy company to choose for the delivery of electricity and/or gas.
A lot of websites offer energy usage calculation models by which you can make a comparison among different available tariffs.
However there is a better strategy.
It is an advantage to choose the best tariffs but first see if some energy can be saved.
For this purpose we offer you a simple comparison form in .pdf which can be used near your meter cupboard where your electricity and/or gasmeters are located.
Without buying expensive energy meters or PC analyses programs you still can get a fair idea of your energy usage.
All you need to give is a bit of your time and a little discipline.
Step 1
Take your energy bill and ask your neighbours or friends living in identical houses if it is okay to share their energy bills for comparison. This will give you a first impression of your level of energy usage.
It maybe that your countries Bureau of Statistics publishes figures of average energy usage to which you can
compare yours.
Step 2
It is best to check your usage once a month and then
compare it to the other months. That way you will get an impression of deviation in the monthly energy usage. Then maybe you get a hint as to where you can save on energy usage.
Write down your usage data on the same day, same hour each month.
For example: start notating on the 21st at eleven o’clock in the evening and repeat this every month on the same day/hour.
Besides learning from comparison it’s an encouragement to keep on saving on energy usage.
In the link below we offer your a free copy in .pdf of the Saving
